Nick is Managing Partner of Verta Life Sciences, an International Consulting and Product Management Group. He has over 30 years delivering results with global pharmaceutical manufacturing leaders, and launching new products for smaller and virtual Life Sciences companies.

Nicks’ expertise lies in manufacturing strategy and rationalization, strategic sourcing and outsourcing, global supply chain start-ups and leadership, new product introduction, technology transfer, and complex global change program leadership. He has helped clients launch new products, establish and start up new manufacturing facilities globally, rationalize global manufacturing operations, close and sell manufacturing facilities.

He has been responsible for the annual supply of over $5billion worth of pharmaceutical product globally, ensured multiple new product introductions are successful and on time and he routinely partners with senior executives on M&A, corporate turnarounds, joint venture start-ups, corporate reorganizations and new product approvals and supply.

Nick’s global experience includes working in more than 26 countries throughout Europe, Asia, Latin America and Asia, and has lived in UK, Thailand, South Korea, USA, Canada, and Switzerland.

Nick has an M.Sc. in Design of Production Systems from Loughborough University of Technology, UK, a B.Sc. in Engineering Science from the University of Warwick, UK, and a Lean Sigma Green Belt.

He is a Fédération Européenne d’Association Nationales d’Ingénieus European Engineer, and an Engineering Council of the U.K Chartered Engineer, and a Member of; the Institute of Measurement and Control, the Institute of Engineering and Technology, the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers(ISPE), and is the chair of ISPE’s Operations Management Community of Practice.

Nick lives in Raleigh NC USA with his wife Katharine, in his spare time he enjoys walking, cycling, and skiing.

  • CMO due diligence review, contract negotiation, tech transfer management, new product launch planning and support for a number of biotech and pharma clients
  • Establishing a specialty product supply company in Switzerland for client acquiring pharmaceutical product rights to the US Market; work included manufacturing and supply due diligence, supply agreement negotiation, quality management system implementation, establishing and managing sales and operation planning processes, vendor management, management of supply chains, selection and management of third party logistics company, import and export compliance management and reviews, new artwork generation and pack changes, and management of process improvements.
  • Manufacturing and Supply sourcing strategies, and contract manufacturing partner selection for a major Biopharma company.
  • Due diligence reviews and selection of commercial manufacturing partner for a client with a drug eluting device in Phase III clinical trials.
  • Business strategy review and development for an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient manufacture, considering how best to position their company for future growth,
  • Led a review of the manufacturing and supply strategies being implemented by eleven different Public Development Partnerships to ensure the secure supply of their products at affordable prices.
  • Accelerated the start-up of operations at a Contract Manufacturing Organization’s new manufacturing site and the technology transfer of production into the facility.
  • Directed a supply chain program that impacted 151 markets and 99 manufacturing sites in 39 countries. Instrumental in delivering $1.8 billion in annual savings
