Tim is a highly experienced pharmaceutical/medical devices consultant and interim manager with some 30 years manufacturing and project experience gained in multi national and start up business’s.

During 14 years in manufacturing at GlaxoSmithKline, Tim gained considerable management experience in the manufacture of complex respiratory combo devices including successful introduction, launch and commercialisation using operational excellence principles.  During the Glaxo / SmithKline merger he had a pivotal role as part a 200 person PMO with the programme successfully reducing 40 sites together with rolling out an operational excellence programme with overall saving of £1Bn per annum. In New Product Introduction management where he proved himself to be an accomplished programme leader with a Green Belt in Operational Excellence and GSK Platinum and Gold awards for delivery of the first EU Quality by Design filing.

Over the last few years, Tim was one of the founders of a speciality Urology company and responsible for all technical and quality aspects of what grew into a £17M turnover business. This was followed by playing a pivotal role in the turnaround and restructure of a small business with systematic quality issues.

Examples of projects completed:

  • Set and manage Diskus manufacture experiencing extreme growth profile due to poor market forecasts. Team of 400 recruited, intensive change management programme run Manufacturing output increased from 50k units pa to sales value of approx. £2.4Bn over 3 years.
  • interim role managing group operations and as well as proposing and implementation of new IT platforms, people structures and processes to bring the company into profitability.
  • Introduction of Programme Office structure covering cost control, S&OP scheduling and revenue generation forecasting.
  • Assessment of multi national companies medical device site capability for new product introduction. An FMEA and comprehensive action plan delivered in 5 weeks.
  • GSK merger restructuring programme. Transferred 6000 products to new sites in 3 years resulting in 6 sites closing on time with no disruption to supply
  • Strategic review carried out of complex US/EU high potency product supply chain with 7 CMO’s resulting in a reduction to 5 CMO’s and 20% COG’s reduction.
  • Urgent Tech transfer of SME companies lead product following poor CMO competent authority audit outcome. Tech transfer delivered on time and product remained in stock.
  • Project management of phase III through to commercialisation of a QBD filing of a novel device and drug nasal spray. 6.75 years from discovery to launch in Japan, USA and EU resulting in GSK, Presidents platinum and gold awards for project leadership.
  • Three MRP and DCP filings delivered to add P&L to SME company on time for 12 markets and products available for commercialisation.
  • Implemented new QMS system for SME company following critical MHRA GMP observations. QMS system developed and successfully passed GDMP & ISO 13485 audits within 6 months. .
